Please join us in celebrating
Elodie's Christening
Saturday 29th March 2025
14:00
Douglas, Isle of Man
Followed by a Ceilidh and Canapes!
A note on the event

A Christening or Baptism is an incredibly important rite of passage in the Church of England where we will dedicate our daughter to God and promise to raise her in the faith we hold dear. It's also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate her arrival into this world!
We would so love for you to be part of this special day for our family. She will be christened in the local church in a short ceremony and then we will walk to Lilly's family home where there will be a Manx ceilidh, canapé's and cake!
Details
Getting There
There are two ways to get to the Isle of Man, you can either fly from London, Liverpool, Manchester or Birmingham. Alternatively, if you're feeling brave or want to bring your car you can take the ferry which leaves from Liverpool and Heysham.
Once on the Island you can get around by rental car, taxi or bus.
On the day of the Christening you are welcome to park at Lilly's family home; Kirby Park, Saddle Rd, Braddan, Douglas, IM2 2RE and then walk to the church from there
Kirk Braddan is a short walk to Kirby but if you aren't driving we would advise booking a taxi in advance to pick you up from Kirby after the Ceilidh. We can recommend Elegance Taxis (+44 1624 672672) but there are a few companies to choose from on the Island
Where to stay
Everywhere is close on the Island! You can go from the top to the bottom in an hour but here are few recommendations on spots to stay in.
Best for ease of access to the Christening: Douglas
Best for Beach: Peel
Best for Culture: Castletown
What to wear
Smart clothes that you can ceilidh in! Suits for the men, would recommend flowy dresses with straps for the ladies and flat or kitten heel shoes.
What to do on the Island
There is lots to do on the Island if you like beautiful walks! A few of our favourites are Glen Maye, Glen Helen, Snaefell and various walks from The Sound Cafe in the South.
If you like History there is a traditional Manx Village called Cregneash and a few impressive Castles such as Peel Castle, Castle Rushen and Rushen Abbey. The Island also boasts the world's largest working water wheel; Laxey Wheel!
If you like beaches you are spoiled for choice but be prepared for a wet and windy beach day! Our favourite beach is Peel Beach where you'll find (objectively) the best ice cream in the world at Davidson's.
